Upward Bound Charities, Inc. prepares students in grades 6-12 throughout Southern California for success in STEM education, higher education, and future careers. Through innovative educational programs, mentorship, and leadership development, we empower young people to discover their potential, pursue their goals, and become the next generation of innovators and community leaders. As a nonprofit IRS tax-exempt organization, we are committed to expanding educational opportunities and creating pathways for lifelong success.

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) is the foundation of our educational programs. Our STEM initiative consists of two core components: College Prep/Career Guidance and Academic Enrichment.

The College Prep and Career Guidance component equips students with the knowledge, resources, and mentorship needed to prepare for college and explore STEM career pathways. Through academic planning, college readiness, financial aid guidance, career exploration, and one-on-one mentoring, students gain the confidence and skills needed to pursue higher education and achieve their long-term goals.

The Academic Enrichment component provides instruction and support in SAT preparation, Algebra, Calculus, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Technology, and College Prep Science. Hands-on laboratory experiences that reinforce classroom learning while developing the critical thinking and technical skills essential for academic success.

Beyond academics, Upward Bound Charities hosts its signature Youth Leadership Conference (YLC), where students develop leadership, integrity, character, and commitment to service. These experiences prepare them to become confident leaders in their schools, communities, and future careers.
